Default Voltage going into crank sensor (dim light)

We pulled the plug on the crank sensor and the test light lit but it was a dim light. How much voltage is entering the crank sensor? Should the light be bright? thanks.

Default RE: Voltage going into crank sensor (dim light)

Depending on the year, either 8v or 5v, iirc...early/mid 90's used 8v, late 90's and newer use 5v...a 12v test light should be fairly bright, however, I strongly recommend a DVOM...test light diag. is definately NOT accurate.
