I have a 2000 dodge ram 1500 4x4 with a 5.2 liter v8 and I want to run 36s on it and I am wondering what would be a good 5 or 6 inch lift for the truck any Ideas would be of great help.

I'm not a suspension lift guy...so I can't give you an answer on that. Skyjacker is a good brand, but that's all I know.

That I DO know is gears...you are going to have to regear both your axles (which will cost you quite a bit of $$$) to be happy with those tires. Without a re-gear, your mileage will suffer. Your truck will seem like it's lost quite a bit of power, and it won't be much fun driving on the freeway...overdrive will pretty much be useless to you. Re-gearing is highly suggested

If you already have different gears in your truck (at least 4.56s) then ignore what I just said. [8D]

I have 3.55s now and I have a guy that will do my gears for cheap as long as I buy the gears and I am going for 4.56 due to the fact I might go to 37s later so I have already heard of the gears but thanks for the reminder I keep hereing the 3.55s work good if I just put 35s on it but I think those are to small

3.55's will be to small.. 35's should be atleast 4.10's.. but i beleive 4.56's is best with them.. a 3 inch lift can clear 35's with little rubbing.. so a 5 inch can fit 35's easy and maybe 36's without rubbing.. if there is rubbing it'll just be at full turn and that will just be alittle rubbing

35's will need 5.1/2 to 6" to clear. I just put 4.56 gears in mine after running around for two years with 3.55's and 35" tires. As stated before, it was a dog and O/D was useless. 4.10's might have been OK, but for pulling a trailer, this is better for my application. RPM's are around 2200 in OD running with traffic on the highway, 70-75MPH range.

ok, you can use any 5 inch or 6 inch kit to clear those. i would rememend skyjacker or fabtech. you can also do the cheap lift route and do 3 inch suspention and 2 or 3 inch body lift. as for gears. it all depends on what trans you have. if you have an auto you defianly need new gears. i would say 4.56 or 4.88 if you have a manual you will be fine but dont expect to pull or haul anything super heavy. i drove around with mine with 35's and 3.55 gears for a few months and i couldnt even tell the difference. still exelerated fine and got good gas milage. hell i was doing like 60 in 4th gear. just wanted to clear that up that you dont always have to regear.

all i know is fabtech makes a good kit but it requires alittle cutting and welding. its not a complete bolt on it. the only thing i think you have to do is cut the lower control arm buckets off and put new ones on back more. skyjacker is what i have and its complete bolt on and they have a good warrenty. not to firmillar with full throttle.
