Sorry about the drunk post guys, I was just pissed. New arms with ball joints attached and new hubs coming tomorrow. I'll be doing the install/repair this weekend. Maybe I'll post a pic of the cracked lower arm/ball joint assembly if anybody is interested in seeing it.

HINT

Then on to that gearing thing which I know nothing about. When it comes to fixing and replacing stock stuff, that's easy but I like to ask questions about changing things. So Burning Rom, after this is done I'll get on the gear info for you.

Thanks

You probably are better a mechanic, but there was no need to start insulting me the way you did.
And it is impossible to correctly align a 3 inch daystar lift without new upper control arms. That is a fact.

Give me a break man, I spent a lot of money and now I have to redo it myself the right way. I was just looking for some advice. All you added to the thread was an insult. You should have stayed out of it.

I've been on a tournament fishing forum for years and met alot of cool guys that I hang out with now. That is why I decided to ask for help on Dodge forum. There is always some good advice to be shared and I'm sure there are some good guys on the board.

thanks sawdust for your info it seemed know one ever put spacers on a 2wd or know buddy wanted to fess up to it. i like 4wd but ive heard tow much crap about alighnment suspension issues with the 2nd soilid axle setup i know the wftermarket seems to have upgrades for most issues but i dont have the time or money to change so much. i never really go off road to much anyway im to crazy of a driver and seemed to break anything and everything. back to the lift the fabtech sounds sweet but i had like 100 bills to spend and i just wanted to level the truck out it sits high even before i touvh anything cause on like 4 tire sizes bigger then stock with precision gears installed by the best rear/trans guy i think in the world. i do put in the rough country coil spacers which are the same as the daystars really the y where poly plastic crap and 3inches. i was very nervous about throwin them on not gettin any info back in time i held out a week then at 11pm one night said after seeing its stance with a floor jack puttin it up 3 inchs i was like these bithces or going in asap. ive changed the ciol springs on my ram with like ever factory spring they make like a i think 4 different spring rates for the 2wd front and weird the left and rights never seemed to be the same as per the factory. Anyway i threw the spacers in in like an hour i had to man handle the hell out of the spring/cpacers combo to get the coils to snap in place and also be center in there groove properly. in the and i was amazed really i drove stright as an arrow it handle the same if not better and ride same as stock, it did seem to have some slight bounce feeling to it at low speed i guess cause the spacers being plastic in nature do give alittle. sounds like u werent so lucky. i really and this is really a first for me really couldnt find fault with what seemed to be some backyard hack rig up lift. i reliaze i lost some suspension travel but i went offroad on some fire roads and still found no fault. im surprised i swore the alightment would be screw it in some way and i was hoping if it was it could be corrected. in the past a had a major drift to the right that NO one could figure out i had at least 20 alighnments done by ay=t least 6 shops one a suspension specialist who couldnt give me an answer that didnt seem read right from a problem cause fix diagnostic chart. i MYSELF after replacing every steering piece upgradedt he box with an AGR unit upgraded and modded the steering pump, put in thre borgenson shaft added the dds invention of the centrury which is has "steering box support/brace" it basically adds a true roller bearing and brace to the output shaft of ther steering box whwere the pitman arm attaches. it works wonders, that and tightening the over center adjustment on the steering box like 1/4 to 1/2 turn. those to fixes will work wonders on a 2wd ram not sure with a 4wd. anyway i know the feeling of having a crap mechanic work on ur truck. i really do everything myself, ball joints on dodges the i screwed up also there is a special dodge specific adapter for a basic ball joint press and i tried the generic no brand press w/o the dodge adatper well two hours later i was at the junk yard put a whole new arm and then paid like 15 bucks to have a new ball joint pressed in. anyway the fabtech lift sounds cool i not sure i want to lose my sport factory aluminum wheels though. if i do change the lift i may do the 289 dollar spindle lift. i really want the i think pro comp 6 inch lift that lowers the whole suspension like a indepentent 4wd truck. i tip for u if u buy more shocks get some bilsteins ive tried like 5 brands/types of shocks and the bilsteins where overall way way better than the rest the others all worked great in one area but then sucked *** in another, i blew through 100's of dollars cause i wasnt happy untill i found EXACTALLY what i likeed and wanted if i found even one thing that annoyed me out it went and if i couldnt find the perfect whatever i would go back to the factory item. so if u or anyone want to skip the whole trial and error parts game for basically any replaceable part on a 2nd gen ram talk to mre first cause ive probabally blew 4-5,000 in dollars on parts that i just took off not satisfied.

ps. after my complete suspension/steering redo i must say the truck handles and steers amazing. patience wins the race i guess. im looking into a 32mm stock front swaybar now i see in the collision book dodge lists a 30mm and a 32mm i have a 30. i know swaybars are the best upgrade u can do for cheap and easy that greatlly improves handling with very very little increase in ride harshness. sorry about the spelling and run ons im not drunk i just have ADD

Well, if the spacers worked for you then great. When I had them on my truck I lost about 2 inchs of downward travel and way too much negative camber. Don't know what year you have but there are some differences in the a arms on the 2001 model. My camber adjustments were maxed out with the factory arms. Even from the factory my 01 2wd sat higher than any other 2 wd I have seen. Probably 2 inches higher. That along with the spacers might have changed the suspension geometry too much for my truck.

If you start seeing the inner tire wearing away, think about some new upper arms. The fabtech kit solved all my problems.

And since this topic was brought up again, I want to thank everybody for dealing with my ramblings. And God Ram It is OK in my book, I was just new to the forum and since then I have spent many hours reading through previous posts and learned alot. Take it east guys and thanks for all the help.
