Default I Need Some Ideas!

I am 16 years old and just got a 1998 Dodge Ram 1500. It has a 318 engine, auto transmission, and is 2WD. It has no major defects and the body is in almost perfect condition. It is totally stock except for the Flowmaster exhaust system I had put on it (single in-dual out). It has 224,500 miles on it. I was wondering if anybody had any ideas on how to gain power without hurting my MPG. I don't want to break the bank so nothing outrageous please. And kinda keep it simple because I'm no pro.
