Default Opinions...1994 Ram

1994 Dodge Ram 1500, 4x4, 5.9L, ps, pb, pdl, tilt, 29K on NEW MOTOR, 24K on new tranny, NEW 39.5 tires, Lund visor, Bully steps, 4in. body lift, 8in. susp. lift, 4in. fender flares, custom rear bumper....$4,000.00.

Well, just wanted opinions on whether or not this is a good deal. I'm definitely keeping my '97, but was thinking of the '94 for towing my enclosed trailer for hauling our dirtbikes to the track. Definitely thinking hard about this, but I wanted some opinions...Thanks.

bad idea, heres the way i see it. yes new motor and trans but stock 9.25 and d44 axles with 39 inch tires ive never heard of a 4 inch body lift. sounds custom made[:-] 8 inch suspention lift. i would have to see pics to know if its any good. could be good, could be a totall crap set up. i hope those axles at least have gears in them. also if you want something for towing you down want a lifted truck. if you want a trail truck thats that big, you need to find something alot better build or your going to be breaking parts like crazy!

Well, I figured I could do away with the body lift and maybe some of the suspension lift, as well as sell the tires and put some more appropriate ones on.

yea if you could get rid of the 4 inch BL, then get it. even if it isnt regeared, 4000 is so low for that truck you could put different gears in it after you buy it. but why wuold you wanna haul stuff with that big (lifted) of a truck??

Definitely not a good rig for towing. [:'(]

Also, do you know what size tires he was running before the 39s? Was he running large tires before as well? If so, the axles have been stressed quite a bit already and I wouldn't trust them for towing.

Also, 8" of lift is hard to "do away" with. Too many things (steering, shafts, t-case) have to be done to make 8" work correctly.

4000 is also kind of high for a '94 [&:] Take a browse around ebay once....94/95/96 models are going cheaper than that. I know, this truck has a new motor and trans in it, but the truck still has a lot of miles on it....and a lot of other things on it can break.

Yeah, I see your point. I guess I really didn't think about all the work involved in taking a lift OFF of a truck. 4000.00 isn't bad at all...as long as I don't have to put in another 2000-3000 just to get it to where I'd need it.
