Default Battery

98 dodge ram 1500 v8 owner, It seems like I have been going through a battery a year. Literally, every twelve months almost to the day. I have a new alternator(replaced about two years ago). I cannot seem to figure out the problem, I have just been buying new batteries every twelve months. Any help

Not the easiest thing to explain, but you may have a parasitic drain on the battery...basically, something (other than PCM & radio memory) is staying energized when the key is off...normal parasitic drain should be no more than about 50mA (.050 Amps)...hook up a fused DVOM in series to the battery, make sure no doors are open and no light switches are left on or anything like that...start pulling fuses, one at a time, until the drain is acceptable.

If you have no idea what I just said, take it to a pro to have it checked for a parasitic drain...it's definately not the greatest fun tracking it down.
