Anyone try to remove the the plastic panel along the bottom part of the tailgate? Is there paint under there, the same color as the rest of the truck? Is it just adhesive, or are there holes and grommets holding it on? I want to take it off, but only if I'll just have to remove glue residue and not fill holes, paint, etc.

 

Yes I have removed mine. It is only adheasive holding it on. I put mine back on though because the paint was wierd in spots. Almost as if it got too hot and bubbled at one time. I tried to buff it out but could never get it to shine right. I thought they maybe used heat from the factory to cure the adheasive because the imperfections were around where the strips of adheasive. You could try yours it may not be in bad shape, I think there has been a few other guys around here that have renoved thiers. And if it doesn't work just get some 3M mounting tape and put it back on.

 

I'd leave it on there. It helps protect your tailgate in the event you leave something on the bumper and open the tailgate. It's not pretty when that happens without any protection on it. 9 times out of 10 when you see a guy with a dented tailgate....that's exactly what he did. [8D]
