Default 97 360 engine missing issues!

Hello,
I'm lost for what to do on my wifes 97 Ram. It started about two weeks ago as she was driving about 25 mph. All of a sudden it started missing bad and has not gotten better. I assumed it was fuel related but it has a new regulator and filter about 25,000 miles ago. I checked the fuel pressure at idle and it was normal (41 psi). Then to ignition. Mopar Performance wires with NGK's looked good. Crank sensor checked fine and so did the fuel timing in the distributor. It has the orginal timing chain on it with 209,000 miles so I just figured it slipped but when I went to put on the MP unit on tonight it checked fine. Didn't slip. It doesn't throw a code and I replaced the computer with a good used unit and same problem. It has about 45,000 miles on reman Mopar heads. It will fire but turns over like timing issue. When it runs I can disable #1 thru 5 fuel injectors and it doesn't affect the idle. Good spark and compression in all cylinders. I'm lost for what to do next without replacing a bunch of stuff ($). Tempted to install a V10 or convert this EFI to a carb. Any help would be great. Thanks
Ryan

Say,
The Jet chip was the first thing I took off. Let the truck sit with the battery disconnected for about 30 minutes and tried it. Didn't work. I reinstalled it just for fun but of course no luck. I see there must be trouble with the intake plenum on these trucks. It burned about a qt every 8,000 miles so I don't think I have a problem. It blows blue smoke now though.

A long shot, but there is trans fluid in it, right? Lose enough fluid, and the torque converter will cause one hell of a driveline vibration, even when not moving...just a thought, a very unlikely thought tho.

Not only that, but with 209K miles, chances are that there is a cracked head. That's why I'm rebuilding my engine right now.

normal fuel pressure is 49 psi +/- 5psi... your pump is out of spec and is probably running out of volume...

you might have to save the image and zoom in on it a little, it's kinda hard to read in the explorer window...

True (I glossed over that); however, they could be cracked. []

Hey,
I just put the thing back together. It Runs like before!! There was a broken valve spring in #4 exh cyl. From what I can tell, the valve spring broke and the ecm started pouring fuel into the chambers. I took the plugs out today and replaced them and they were dripping wet after it ran. I also dumped 2 qts of fuel diluted oil out of the crank case (dual by-pass petcock). It only ran about 30 minutes with it running bad. I knew the spring was broken when I started working but it still held the valve up and held cyl pressure so I didn't think it was affecting it to bad. Thought something worse was wrong. I didn't check the fuel pressure when it started running good but it might have been screwed up when it was pushing so much fuel. I did have a burned valve on the old heads and they were cracked in every cyl without a water leak. Lean regulator was the problem. I am looking for a used Procharger kit for this truck if anyone has something. I have a cummins intercooler for the project. Thanks everyone for your input!
Ryan
