Default Fram Boost vs. K&N FIPK Gen II

I've been wondering if anyone has learned of any new information regarding the Fram Boost CAI system. I've watched all the videos on their website of the contest winners but then again they are ordinary people and (I'm assuming) don't know the technical aspects of the CAI. I've noticed they all remark on the sound change of the intake when accelerating quickly. Does the K&N FIPK Gen II also produce a similar sound change when accelerating? And I think I've asked this before but just to be sure, I saw on the charts that there is an increase in HP at higher RPM's. I do not drive at high RPMs, pretty much max out at 2200 when the truck shifts nor do I accelerate that fast as in the Fram Boost videos. If I were to purchase this CAI, would I experience a noticable change in my trucks performance, HP, torque, and milage wise the way I drive? I'm getting closer to finally purchasing a CAI and have to pick which one I want to go with soon.

you might see alittle mpg and some torque, not much though. its mostly more hp but you should be able to feel it anyway. its will breath much better and you might just find yourself pushing the pedal down alittle more. I would definalty get the K&N. as i matter afact im looking for another one.

Ty for that. As for the sound, can you hear a more roaring under the hood from inside the cab (could you hear it from the outside too?). And since the engine breaths better, does that mean my exhaust system will be louder?

i just had a major overhaul on my exhuast from cat back. I also have recently added the K&N FIPK genII. I think the K&N intake kit made my exhuast deeper. and yes you can hear the intake sucking in the air from under the hood. Now thats outside the cab. As far as inside i havent noticed yet becuase f the exhuast tone over rideing every other sound.

Did you purchase the FIPK from their website or some place cheaper? I see there are a good bit of them on ebay.

the price i saw on their site was $380. But that was after i looked on summit and jegs web site. The K&N FIPK GEN II was $277 on both so i got mine from summit, within 2 days it was here and installed in an hour before i went to work.

Thanks for all of that. I have a question about your exit, I see you also have dual exhaust with the flowmaster 40 series delta flow. Did you hear a better/louder sound once you added the FIPK and new cat to your truck? Was the FIPK hard to install? I've never done any work on vehicles before and was wondering if I would be able to do it myself and maybe have my dad help me out.

As far as sound the FIPK may have made it a little deeper. No it wasn't hard at all. If you can handle changeing the stock filter you could handle this. My biggest problem was the fact my truck didnt have an evap can where the directions called for. so i had to come up with some bolts of my own to mount one of the brackets. of course having a decent set of tools helps........
