Default Magnaflow Catalytic Converter

I am thinking about buying one of the Magnaflow Direct-Fit Catalytic Converters. I was wondering if any of you have them on your trucks and what you think of them. Did you notice any improvement in performance and exhaust tone? And do they really send you enough piping to go all the way to the exhaust manipolds and about halfway to the muffler? And how do you link up the rear piping to the rest of the exhaust? I might have a problem because when I had my exhaust installed they put new piping all the way up untill about 2 foot from the stock converter.

I bought my '01 new, and one of the first things I had to replace was the stock converter. The stock ones tend to fall apart internally, pretty common with these trucks, and can rob some serious horsepower. I ended up replacing it with the magnaflow, which made an unbelievable difference. When I replaced it, I ran complete new true-dual exhaust to include some edelbrock headers to help it breathe. In your situation, I'd just bring the truck down to the exhaust shop and tell them what you want. A good exhaust shop will take care of you, so you don't have to worry if the converter will fit, they'll simply make it fit by adding and welding the additional piping(about $80). And anything that helps your engine breathe better, such as a high flow converter, will help it run better, give you better gas mileage, and yes, make it sound better.

care full look at what your getting if you order the cat your self. Adirect fit cat for my truck came up as a 2.25"single in and a 2" dual out but thats not what my truck had. So i choose to order a universal 3"in/out single. Then upsized my pipe to the muffler from a 2.5" to a 3"

here is what magnaflow says......wil fil my truck

Just buy the universal on ebay. Its only around 80 bucks. The part # is 94037 and it will fit your truck. I had a shop do mine and they only charged 60 bucks so thats only 140 total. Sound is improved VERY MUCH! I love it! I have straight pipes off the magnaflow cat and it sounds mean as all hell!
