truck tool box suggestions
mine is bolted. one (edit: 5/16) bolt on each side in the middle. I started to put two on each side, but I couldn't reach my arm all the way up to the front to tighten the nut. I take the box out whenever I haul wood, lumber, etc, so I want it to be easy and fast to get in/out. The next time I have it out I'm going to try to put a bolt up through the bed rail from the bottom, nut on top so it will act as a permanent stud. Then I hope I can set the box in and just run a nut down on it. Sounds fast. I don't know if it'll stay tight or not.
I'm not familiar with hooks ???? Maybe I should be. Anybody got a link or picture.

Get an aluminum or a good grade of stainless that won't rust. Stay away from the plastic ones. Get one with one big door and two opening latches. If you have a lot of stuff like me, get a deep one that goes all the way to the bed floor.
Just a thought. Some of the guys that have them might have more of an opinion. My dad has one that has a single lid that opens from either side. After having the ones with the gullwing doors, he said it is easier to find stuff.
You know how it goes. Everything you are looking for is on the other side. You go around and look and it ended up being jammed under something in the center on the first side. Atleast if the whole lid opens you might be able to see if it is on the other side.
Me I have a cheap plastic in the bed box. Out of sight, out of mind. With a plastic bedliner it's easy to slide in and out. It usually is out.

just something else that works for me... I've got about 4 of the old fashioned style, stackable rubbermaid boxes I keep inside the toolbox. 2 of them are the deep type, about 16" deep, and the others are shallow, about 6-8". It allows me to open the tool box and pull out the entire rubbermaid to the back of the truck, and get a lot of stuff out at once, and it keeps everything from piling up loose in the bottom.
bear in mind this is joe amatuer stuff, not a full time service truck...
one of the deep ones has skil saw, drill, jig saw, hammer, nail apron, bits, blades, drywall screws, various hardware, multilmeter, etc.
the other deep one has heavy stuff - bottle jack, 4 way lug wrench, jumper cables, chain, tow rope.
one shallow one has 1/4 steel cables, hooks, d rings, pliers, wrenches. for snaking trees out.
another shallow one has gloves, tire plug kit, elec connectors, wire, fuses, 12v light, etc.
and finally...laying in the bottom old steel toolbox full of hand tools, come-along, shovel w/end of handle sawed off to fit, axe, crowbar and bush-axe.
oh, here's another tip. on your come-along, the anchor end usually just has a hook. take this off and replace it w/ a piece of chain about 6-8' long and a chain hook on the end. that way its all one piece, and you just run it around a tree and hook it and your ready to pull.
