truck tool box suggestions
hey all, i recently bought my first truck (2001 Ram 1500 Sport) and i really want to get a truck box for it soon. but since its my first truck ive never even looked at the boxes before. ive been looking at them recently and beleive i want one of the black plastic ones. as they seem like they would need the least maintence to keep looking good and couldnt rust, plus their usually cheaper (right?).
anyway, which brands or styles would you guys suggest? like one lid or two opposing lids? which have you guys had the best experieces with, plastic or diamond plate, painted diamond plate? anything else?
thanks!

I use Husky from Home Depot. Diamond Plated. Full size. 250.00-350.00.....depending on the sales.
I would suggest u stay away from plastic. They are a decent tool box, But they start to droop after awhile from the weather changes.

yeah i heard that about the plastic ones. but ive heard they make the new ones have a stiffer top that is concave upward so it wont do that anymore. i could be wrong though.
ill probably just get a diamond plated one that is black.

Mine is a UWS aluminum (light weight/strong), diamond plate, 2 opposing lids that open up from the sides of the truck. THIS IS real important because the truck is so tall. I can open it up and reach the top level stuff without climbing up into the bed. Mine is also deep, about 24" and reaches down to about 4" from the bottom of the bed. It was on the truck when I bought it so I don't know how much it cost. I've never seen a plastic one that was any good.

I would definitely avoid plastic...as said before...they will sag and droop after a period of time. The lid style kinda depends on what you're planning on storing in your box...i personally prefer the wing style, but it is too restrictive because I keep a LOT of tools in my box. so I personally opted for the regular single lid. it can be a pain to have to climb in to the bed occassionally, but i just couldn't easily fit what i want to in a wing box. Don't worry about too much maintenance on a diamond plate box, because there really isnt any. not much more than what you get with a plastic box. just my .02
thanks for all your input guys.
one more thing, which is better bolted on or using the hooks? i dont really want to drill into my truck, but if its for the box and i can reuse the holes if i need to get another box down the road, then thats fine
