Fuel Injectors
It seems that every third person I talk to says he's had to replace fuel injectors in his Dodge truck. And since mine are apparently shot, I thought I'd ask you guys for input. The choices appear to be many.
I've got an '01 extended cab 1500 with a 360. 90% of it's use is on the freeway, with the remaining 10% on dirt trails and roads - nothing too serious so I'm not considering an all-out off-road setup. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Define "shot". Injectors either work or they don't.
Here is a shot of my fuel rail and my injectors, when I pulled them off of my truck in February:

And here is what they look like after a friend of mine ran them through a sonic cleaner:

Granted he owns his own jewelery store and put all eight injectors in the large container, you can clean your own injectors. Just find a sonic cleaner for around $100 or so that has a basin large enough to hold an injector. No special solvent is required. Mineral spirits would work great. Once you have cleaned your injectors, replace the upper and lower o-rings and reinstall in your intake. I would even recommend that you clean your fuel rail.

I forgot to mention in my previous post that spending $100 for a sonic cleaner, plus solvent, is a helluva lot cheaper than $70 x 8 injectors. And $70 was CHEAP [

I suppose "shot" is a relative term here. Actually, I've got a lot of injector noise. Despite faithfully adding injector cleaner to my fuel tank on a regular basis, I began hearing injector ticking last fall. It has gotten considerably worse. Mileage has deteriorated. The noise can now be heard from 70'.
My wife's friend is a Dodge dealership service manager. He took one listen and said the injectors were going. I have a tough time telling lifter noise from injector noise, and am taking his word on this. Four friends have also had the same problem. All have heard my truck and say the injectors are indeed making the noise. The service manager said there are some higher performance Bosch injectors on the market that will improve power and fuel economy (hopefully with correct resistance???). He suggested I go that route and not pay a dealership to do the work. I concur, but need advice on the exact injectors to install.

My truck has Siemens injectors. AFIK, Bosch and Siemens are the best in the market. Some people report problems with misfires and find out that the injector was plugged on the inlet, like mine were. I was running on three out of eight injectors. My advice is to pull the fuel rail and examine it for dirt/debris. Then, inspect each injector to insure none are clogged on the inlet side. Some people on this board have reported that #6 and #8 typically clog, with a lot of crud in the fuel rail on that side. Mine had #3, #5, and #6 clogged.

2000+ models use RED Colored 21# injectors (factory)
No part # available, best I can do, never said anything about being cheap, you put gas in so you gotta have cash.

They are the #19 but not the factory, they are the high flow, 2000 + can use the factory as they are a higher flow (red) injector, but as I was reading you really benefit If you use a ported intake or the M1-2BBL MPI Manifold, of course this is all conjecture from other people like APS precision, I imagine If your gonna go to all the trouble you may as well use a Mopar injector If they make higher flow for the 5.9 (hint...higher flow doesnt nessesarily mean more gas being dumped in, its how the gas is being injected)
