Default 318 project

Hello everyone, Im OH my 99 1500 4X4 318 and so far its going really good. I removed all the flashing, knifeblade, and shotpeen my crankshaft. I also reworked and shotpeen my connecting rods. Im installing K&B Hyperutectic pistons, sealed power rings, 166K torque converter, and a really good balance job. All my fits and clearances are within specs, (0.0015) main bearing crankshaft and endplay is (0.004), still have to check the rods. Let me tell you, spinning that crankshafs feels so good, it gives me a woody. The crankshaft in the block spins like a jewle. Im considereing to install Edelbrock Aluminum Heads pn# 61779 with a Comp Cam Xtreme Energy pn# 20-745-9. Is this a good combo? What do yal think?

Default RE: 318 project

What will the compression ratio be after the rebuild?

What is the +/- clearance of
the pistons to top of block,
to cylinder head quench flats,
to exhaust valve?

Springs?
The stock Magnum springs are a slight improved beehive design,
but they are so light that at least one cylinder will begin floating after 5200 rpm.

Have you considered installing the hollow stem Ferrera intake valves,
or a sodium filled exhaust valves?

If you can come up with about $700 more the heat reflecting coatings on piston crown, combustion chamber and exhaust port have been getting good reviews and add perhaps 5-8% more horsepower.

RT cylinder heads or Edelbrock Magnums?
I wouldn't put stock magnum heads back on a high performance build because you can be about 90% certain that they will crack between intake and exhaust seats - especially on cylinders 7 & 8.
