2001 1500PU probs
Had to replace the throttle body sensor. After replacing the sensor the turck ran great again, but went out a few days later and wouldn't start. Had a similiar problem one time when battery was dead, but after jumping the battery it will only stay running if I keep my foot on the gas pedal.
Does the comp need reset or what does it sound like????

Throttle body sensor? [&:] Do you mean throttle position sensor? Or idle air control sensor/motor?
You can try unhooking the battery for an hour or so. It lets the computer reset a few things related to the TPS.

yea meant the throttle position sensor. I left the battery unhooked for awhile and still had the same problem. I can hook it up to jumper cables and the truck starts right up but won't idle unless my foot is on the gas pedal.
new TPS has probably failed. Does the truck now act the same as it did with the original TPS ?
According to Haynes manual, a problem with TPS will set code 24, and then operate w/default value.
I once had a Dodge Caravan that would go through a TPS about every 2 years. When it failed, it wouldn't idle w/o slight gas pedal pressure.
According to Haynes manual, you can test TPS with voltmeter. Unplug conector and turn switch on. Check reference voltage from pcm by touching positive probe to purple/white and negative probe to black/light blue. Reference voltage should be about 5.0 volts. Plug connector back up and back probe into the electrical connector with straight pins. Positive probe to orange/dark blue. Negative probe to black/light blue. Operate throttle and observe voltage change. Throttle closed should be .5 to 1.5 It should increase as the throttle opens to about 3.5 to 4.5 at full open. Anything other than this indicates bad TPS.

The TPS seems fine the problem is that I have to jump the truck to get it to start and then i have to leave my foot on the gas pedal to keep it running. It did this once before when the battery went dead, I think the comp needs reset??
