Default plenium replacement

Call me dumb.........I am letting the dealership have the truck Fri to replace the gasket. Is there anything you folks can think of I need to watch for when I pick it up. They are hitting me for 451.00 and replacing the cap and rotor while they are there.

I hate to say this, but there is actually only about $35 in parts for the plenum replacement. (1 plenum gasket, 1 set of intake manifold gaskets - 2 for the heads and 2 for the ends of the intake, 1 thermostat gasket, and 1 throttle body gasket.)

I just want to know from others that have had this done at the dealer/mechanic......is there anything other than the obvious I should be looking for when I go pick it up.

Don't know if you read this or not but you may want to...

I would by a can or two of combustion chamber cleaner and plan on doing that part yourself.

I have worked for dealers for 10 years and I do not remember a single tech that lets the cleaner soak for 2-3 hours before pulling the car out.

one suggestion.... go buy a felpro gasket and have them install it instead of their stock one. results with the felpro are much better than the stocker.

the stocker may leak again... it's best to put an aluminum belly pan kit on it.

i noticed my oil pressure was low, pulled into a gas station and checked it, wasnt registering on the dipstick... added 3 quarts to it just to get it right below the fill line...... it hasnt been leaking anywhere, so maybe i have a bad plenum too......my gas mileage dropped a few weeks ago and so did HP for some reason. think its plenum? also, think it hurt my truck runnin that low on oil for a few weeks?

your motor should be fine... your plenum is blown. low mpg, oil loss & pinging are common symptoms...

go get a belly pan/plenum kit from APS precision www.apsprecision.com and have him install that with the felpro gasket. it'll never leak again.

while your in there, consider a cut on the runners for added boost in the upper rpms... do a search on it w/me as the author and you should find a bunch of stuff.

ok let me ask, cause i'm not sure what the plenium gasket actually is. Is IT the metal gasket on the bottom of the intake manifold or is it part of the throttle body?
