Rom...do you know of any links that specifically state the conditions of the replacement or will they replace it no matter what?

No, there are no set conditions. Those articles have been all that anyone has ever needed to show to the dealer to get a replacement.

First timer here. I have a cat recall question. I think mine is plugged. No power or accel. I called Dodge and they said the recall doesnt apply to my vehicle. They didnt say why. By the way, my Ram has 112K miles on it.

Did you ever recieve a paper about the the change. I just showed my dealer the paper and they said it was all i needed. Go to the upper links and Print them out and take them to the dealer and see what happens.

Check the FAQ section on checking the catalytic convertor. If it failed its a reasonable way to test it and find out. If its covered under warranty have the dealer replace it anyway, it cant hurt.

Ihave a 99 Ram 1500 with the 5.9L. My truck has 112,000 miles on it. I never received a letter. Anyone know if i qualify? I have my truck in a local shop now (not a dealer) so I would like to find out if I'm on the list quickly.

You should qualify. Take a copy of those articles in and talk to dealer. It's common for someone that isn't the original owner of the truck to not get a letter. Dodge only has records of who originally owned the truck. If you don't write in to them and have the records changed (or if a dealer you take it to doesn't do it) they'll always assume the original owner still has the truck.

Thanks. Called my dealer. He looked up my VIN says that since my truck has 112,000 miles on it, that I don't qualify. Says it is only for vehicles with 80,000 or less. That really stinks.

By the way, the shop I took the truck to says that my cat is definitely plugged.

TAKE the articles IN and SHOW them. They state that Chrysler has EXTENDED the warranties on the catalytic converters. 80,000 miles is the OLD warranty

The deal affects 1996-2001 Jeep Cherokees, Grand Cherokees, Wranglers, Dodge Dakota trucks and Dodge Ram vans, wagons and pickups.
Under the settlement with the EPA and Justice, DaimlerChrysler agreed to:

• Extend the warranty on the catalytic converters on about 700,000 of the vehicles, and notify owners of another 300,000 about the catalytic converter problem, which will be covered under the original emissions warranty.
Dealers say anything they can to get out of doing warranty work...Chrysler doesn't reimburse them very much for it labor-wise.
