1999 Dodge Ram 1500 truck A/c
Seems to be a very "hot" topic.. Dodge truck blows out hot air. Compressor doesn't seem to come on/off.
I'm assuming it has R134 in it and see refill kits. How many do you buy for this vehicle. 4.3L. Is it easy to do?
Thanks.

Not sure what is included in these over-the-counter refill kits.
First find out WHY your compressor doesnt kick in - is it low on 134, or is it an electrical problem.
If it is low on 134, find out where it is leaking from...fix leak
Then evacuate the system for 20 minutes, and give it a full charge.
There will be a label in the engine comp. telling you what a full charge is.

i ran into this once, just recharge it and you should be good to go. the old stuff is prob just freezing it to where the compressor cant kick on, so it blows hot.
just go to wal mart and buy a recharge kit. you'll probably need two people if your compressor isnt running to turn the air on and off. the compressor needs to be running for the system to take in a charge. Keep in mind if it hasnt been working for a while there is nothing in there to lubricate the seals inside the compressor and if they dried up and cracked you may need a new compressor to avoid it leaking out every time you re charge it.

Dodge doesn't have a 4.3L truck motor. [8D]
