Default Catalytic Converter difference

Just wondering if i should spend the extra money and get the y-pipe cat, or go with the weld in one.

Also which would be easier, cutting and welding, or removing the entire unit and replacing? Any tips would be great thanks

Is your converter bad? Or are you just looking to get a high-flow unit?

I believe the cat is bad, because i have lost a little performance, and it rattles fairly bad under light acceleration. Also is there any other mods that will be required if i replace the cat?

What year is your truck? You may be entitled to a FREE replacement from Chrysler.

Be prepared. You may enter into a fight with the local Dodge dealer. I took the newspaper articles that announce the Cat extended warranty, and my truck does not qualify. Has more to do with the VIN that with year or even mileage. Just a warning.

FWIW, I'm going with the one from Summit Racing. Easier to find a muffler shop willing to install it.

I have a feeling they just don't want to replace your cat There hasn't been ANYONE yet that hasn't been able to get thiers replaced yet...other than you. And the original thread for the converter recall thread is SEVERAL pages long

Only trucks that aren't covered are the 94s and 95s.

What did they tell you? Did they give you a reason why?

my truck is a 99 with the 5.9l, do you think that if i bring it to the dealer that they will replace it if it is bad? i hate dealing with the dealers also, soo much BS. But if i can get a new Cat out of the deal i might have to give that a try.

I'd give it a try if you think it's bad.
