Default 0 Oil Pressure!!!!

When Im driving around and push the clutch in to stop, or lug it any the oil pressure goes from normal to 0 instantly! the red "Check Gauges" light comes on. Put a new oil sending unit it like two weeks ago. Any ideas? New Duramax may be in my future.

Clogged filter or bad pump.

New Duramax may be in my future

Thanks for the input. Just had oil changed and new filter. So Maybe its the pump.

As for the cummins Duramax thing my dad use to have V8 Mack big truck with straight stacks on it sounded awesome. I like everything about the cummins except that its an I6 and not a V8. Thanks again

Always suspect the new part first. Why did you replace the oil pressure sending unit? Were you certain it was bad?

No I wasn't certain it was bad I read on here somewhere that the gauge will bounce around like that when they are going bad. So I replaced it but the problem is still occuring. Thanks

... an I6 that has better reliability and power than the V8's. Thats reason enough for me. But, it's America, you can buy anything you want thats out there on the market.

The pressure was bouncing around (and going to 0) so you replaced the sending unit? But it didn't fix it? Not a bad call. But I'd still verify pressure readings SOMEHOW before condemning the pump. Can you screw a manual pressure gage into the sending unit hole to monitor pressure directly ... something? ... beats digging around in the engine when it might be a simple wiring problem.

True. And FYI, the oil pressure sending unit is to the engines right of the distributor. Oh... darnit... you know that, because you already replaced it.
Also, for these engines (3.9L, 5.2L, and 5.9L) the oil pressure is: 6psi minimum at curb idle, 30-80psi at 3000RPM.

Old military adage ... If it's stupid and it works ... it's not stupid.

Always check the simple stuff first.
