Default Mopar PCM, and tire size?

Is there a way to compensate for different tire size, and gear ratio with the ('96) Mopar PCM? If not, how can I make adjustments for tires/gears on my '96 Ram? I'd like to have different tires for track, and highway. Speedo does not need to be accurate at track, but I'd like to be able to switch between tires, and have the speedo correct if possible. I'll probably go with 4.10's or 4.56's.

Any suggestions?

Thanks!

On a 96, the PCM doesn't have a calibration for tire size. The truck has a speedometer gear IIRC that can be changed based on tire size.

Quoted from Dodgeram.org
the part number is 520676XX for the speedo gear, where XX is the number of teeth. If you have 31 teeth, like for 245-75-16 tires and 3.54 gears, it would be 52067631. The part number series available up to 38 teeth.

ok what about calibration for a 2000. it is had to accurratly do mpg with 265 tires when stock are 245. Assuming the trip od is not accurate. I think i read that on this forum.

Thanks, Rom. Is there a downside to performance with the "wrong" speedo gear, other than having the speedo/odo reading being incorrect?

Oh, yeah... does anyone know if the PCM will disable, or reduce torque management?

There's no impact on performance running the incorrect speedo gear. As far as torque management, it's debateable. Some say it does. Some say it doesn't. The way I see it, if you have a 92-96 Ram, you don't have a lot of choice anyway since the Perf. PCM is the only option out there.

The 2000 calibration has to be changed in the PCM, either by the dealer or by a hypertech/superchips programmer.
