I would think that the stuff would glob up the oil, especially when it's cold outside. Is it thick like STP Oil Treatment? I am hesitant about putting something that thick in my motor on cold starts. If it is as good as y'all are saying, then I'll put some in my Dodge Charger motor, she's got 120k on a 400 cid..a tad bit noisy ..but afterall it is 34 years old. Maybe it'll quiet the lifters. My Ram only gets Mobil One Synthetic 5w -30...it has from the get go so not sure adding that stuff would be wise. But my engine only has 58k on it, just breaking in now.

The Restore is not thick at all. It is no thicker than the oil that you are putting in. I put a can in on my last oil change and did see a little differnce in the way thatit was running.

Even adding Motor Honey (REALLY thick) doesn't affect cranking all that much. It gets diluted by the oil that's in there anyway. Fact is ... if you NEED something that thick to seal rings and what not ... clearances are probably large enough for it not to matter.

My understanding is that Restore doesn't work like that though.

Any issues with combing Engine Restore with an additive like Duralube?

Just picked up a 96 5.2 for a work truck and only has around 90k miles but has been sitting without being run for 2.5 years. I'm sure the seals are dried out and the like so will pull the plugs and drop a little oil in, but want to be as kind to this things as possible while trying to nurse it back to health.

I tried this stuff once.In my 89 XJ.I had a lifter tick and it had around 150K on the clock.I put the 6 cylinder can in.100 miles later I had no oil pressure.Clogged something for sure.I drained the oil(which was fresh) and put back in regular oil,New filter too.Oil pressure went back to norm and everthing was well.It looked like bee's took a honey dump in my filter.I wont try it on my truck thats for sure.
The old jeep 4.0L's don't have any oil pressure bypass in the block. The bypass is in the filter. If the filter fails or you put the wrong filter on (seen that lots of times) = no oil pressure

A good friend of mine used restore in his Nissan 280z that had a few miles on it. Then he decided to go hot rodding, like he always did, wot for a short time, then boom rod through the block. I'd have to agree that this can cause a low oil pressure condition.

I used it 2 weeks ago with my last oil change. The rough idle I had on the first start up of the day went away.

I had a 1989 Volkswagen Fox that I used it in also. Man, I beat the hell out of that car. Four years and 125K miles later when I got rid of it I'd swear it ran better than when I bought it.
