Default Exhaust Recommendations

Hi.

For my truck I really want the Magnaflow 3" system but its pretty expensive. My summer job just ended so I dont want to spend all my money on it. I read that if my truck already has 3" pipes I could just buy a muffler because the mandrel bends wont make too much of a difference. The thing is that I dont like the rusted pipes on my truck. I would rather have a nice looking system or one people wouldn't see. If i bought just a muffler (probably flowmaster) how exactly do turn-downs work? I was thinking maybe cut the pipes so they dont exit. Im just worried if I cut the pipes too close to the muffler it might be real loud inside and out. My last question is if cutting the pipes somewhere after the muffler would cause me to lose too much backpressure.

As far as mufflers go i was considering the 50 series delta flow because I dont want a real loud sound. Anybody recommend any others.

Thanks

Unless your replacing the whole system try and keep the mandrel bends or you will lose some performance, i don't believe you want a true 3" system without a reduction in there somewhere, you could lose some low end. Hope Steve will chime in on this one..............
