Default exhaust or throttle body

would you recomend putting a new exhaust or throttle body on a stock 5.9L first. i would like the exhaust for the sound of the truck, but performance is more important. thanks

look at it this way, both will show a minor improvement. the exhaust gets more air out of the engine, but only as much as you can get in. and TB get more air into the engine, but only as much as you can get out. you will see the best gains when they are used together. I went with the exhaust for sound and its the best gain per dollar you can get (at least thats what most people think). Just pick one now, and get the other when you have the cash. personally, i would get the exhaust, sound is important for a truck! Good luck

I would go with the throttle body. It would help you more with throttle response without taking away from your torque as much as exhaust would. Then again, I'm not a sound person...don't care how the truck sounds. That's why I have a V10 It may sound like a V6...but it sure surprises a lot of V8 owners when they're still sitting at the line and I'm 3 car lengths away [8D]

I would agree with ramchrgr88 personally because I love the sound of a good truck, but it is very true that both are necessary for them to work properly. I put on a Flowmaster dual exhaust and it sounded good, but when I added the throttle body it really sounded impressive and I noticed more gains. Either way you go, it will be a good pick.

exhaust... I had a flowmaster dual out (outputs reduced to 2.25") and it made some performance gains as well as a nice tone. Although the TB will also give you a performance boost, if you cant get the added air out, it's going to be like trying to shove a grape thru a straw.

Has anyone done the TB as a 1st mod yet?
