Ok, I got a 180 t-stat and then purchased the hypertech ppIII. Worked great, but I still get the p1281 DTC after about 3 days. The cooling system is burped etc etc... Should I get a stock t-stat or is there something else I can do? I would rather it run a little cooler because it gets pretty hot here in Texas... thanks

 

Get a different 180 stat. Hypertech stats are junk. I had the same problems with mine and several other guys around here have had problems with them too. Get a Stant Superstat or a good one from Napa and that should take care of it.

 

I'm sorry, I didn't specify, but I do have the t-stat from Napa. It is odd, it runs great for about 3 days and gets 5mpg more. But once it throws the code out it runs rich and burns gas like crazy.
