Default anyone hear of this?

i can't remember where i saw this item, but i know i can't find it anywhere now.

it was supposed to be a device that hooks inline with your battery cable to your battery. when your battery voltage dropped below a certain point, it would cut off power (so you would always have enough juice to start your motor, even if you left electrical items running).

any idea where to look?

i remember hearing about something similar... but doesn't seem too useful to me... if it cut power it would cut off your engine... (no spark as alt goes to battery goes to distributor..)

so why would you want to cut off your engine to start it up again...

you might try jcwhitney or summit.. they might have it...

hell just add a oneway capacitor to it between the battery and starter. if it would work.

I remember a type of battery being sold (DELCO?) that had what looked like a small extra cell that you could manually switch to provide your own jumpstart. This probably didn't catch on, but what your describing sounds like something a motorhome or boat would use. Check out something like West Marine or a motor home dealer.

Battery Buddy, or now apparently called the Battery Brain

No, it's designed for if you leave your lights on in the driveway or something like that...glove box open, etc. Anyway, if the alternator quits providing the battery voltage while driving, it'll die anyway, so no difference

yea it moniters very small amounts of amp draw and is programable so say your turn your motor off, the battery isnt receiving voltage from the alt so the battery brain knows that the motor is in OFF mode, so it should start monitering draw off the batt for certain lengths of time and will cut it off when told do to so.. pretty neat,,, or just turn off your damn head lights and call it a day
