ok, if i do want to swap out the rear end, do i still need the gears for the front end? Can you only change out the gears in the rear and still be able to drive in 4x4, or do the ratios up front and in the rear have to match each other?

Please help

axle swap.. unbolt suspension... disconnect from drive line... disconnect brake lines... pull out.... reverse process for swappin back in. (granted there are things like abs lines and breather hoses and other stuff but that's about the jist of it)

What condition is the truck in? Where was it hit? If the truck is in the right condition, I would be swapped more than just gears.... I would basically uninstall the off-road package off of the truck and putting it on your truck, shocks, suspension, blocks.., and if the wheels are in ok shape, i would definately take them. And yes, an off-road dodge has 4.10 gears and the Rear-end is posi trac. Just my 2 cents

the truck was rolled, so the body is toast. the frame looks a little bent in the middle, but the whole drivetrain seems to be ok. the only thing is i dont want to pay too much for this. im a struggling college student who has a very tight budget for now and will until i finish up with medical school. so i still have a while of trying to fix up my truck on almost nothing. most of the goodies i have gotten have been basically given to me for cheap or free. ive only bought the cold air intake, and got the spacers for a 50% discount.

being poor sucks..................

no doubt., and modding can get expensive.

be sure to get some pics of all the work you're doing with the swap.
