Default Just got truck back from regearing

Just got home from picking the truck up. Just the couple of miles, it already feels a lot better. I'm running 33X12.50's now and just put in 4.56 gears. It felt just right. I thought these went better with 35's, so I was going to bump it up to a 35 in the next month or so. I'm second guessing it now though. I don't want it to slump again. It accelerates great and runs a lot better. Even the transmission is shifting stronger. I was getting 11 to 12 mpg highway. I'll update later with what the new number is. Should be better as it is not struggling to get off of the line.

what break in instructions did they give? mine were initally drive for 30 minutes, then let it cool all the way down, then 20~30 min of driving max with 20 min cool down in between. kinda a PITA for the 1st 500 miles but better to be safe than sorry.

They drove it initially. For the next 100 miles, he said to not drive more than 25 miles at a time, then let it cool down for around the same amount of time I drove. I cannot tow for another 200 miles. He said it was guaranteed, so if it messes up, then it will be alright.

yeah that souns about right... once your done with the 500 or so miles... swap out the fluid front & rear. that way any metal from the breakin will be gone.

how much did it cost to get your truck regeared. I'm running 33's with stock 3.55 gears and I can feel the lack of power. I've been thinking when the time comes to either get new gears or smaller tires (which I don't want to do :/ ). And do you expect to have a change in fuel economy (+ or -) ?

Ended up running me 755.53 in labor. I took care of the parts. I think parts shipping and all was about 600 or so. The work is guaranteed though...he told me that quite a few times. I do expect the mileage to go up as the motor isn't straining as much, and it shouldn't kick in and out of overdrive all the time.

I just had mine done with 4.56 gears a few months back also. It is great, like having a shift kit. 35's will not hurt you with those gears. If you get on the interstate and try to keep up with traffic with the 33's you will be turning some serious RPMs. I'm running around 2200 staying with traffic in the left lane. My speedo went from being 7-8 under at 70, to near 15 over with the gear change. If I calculated the gas mileage with it this far off it would be way inacurate.

I always wonder why they even put anything higher than 4:10's in the V8 trucks, with the overdrive.................
