clunking noises 99 ram
quick question, i have a 99 ram quad cab 4 by 4, i changed the shocks to rancho rs 5000, it seems that the holes in the shocks are a lot bigger than the mounting bolts now i have an awfull lot of clunking under there, plus a bunch of other clunks i cant find... any suggestions?????
I've seen guys who put washers on each side of the shock, and that helps enable the shock to be tightened down better, eliminating that clunking sound you hear. Seems to be a common issue with the 5000's.
I put washers on the inside and outside of my front shocks and it helped a little. But the problem didn't go away for good until I bought the correct size bolt for the bushing sleeve. I have had rancho 9000's and 5000's. Now I'm running fabtech's. I'll probably switch back to 9000's though because of what I do with my truck. They were the best out of the three.
Maybe try to find the right size sleeve or think about some bigger diameter bolts.
