Change your tires to a smaller size, like 33's or smaller. Also, a light weight tonneau cover can help if you do a lot of highway driving. Gears are still going to be your best option though if you want to keep the 35's.
Do all you want, but the best possible consistent mileage will be around 15-16...we bought a giant aero-inefficient truck, I know I didn't buy it for the mileage
You'd be better off buying an old lil' Civic or Neon for daily driving by the time you're done spending $ to improve the truck's mileage.

did you honestly expect any better? there is no easy cheap way to make any noticable difference. otherwise the factory would have done it. go buy a prius if you need better mileage.
sounds about right for a big a$$ truck with big tires, even with big gears. gears would probably make you step in it some more, but wouldn't hurt the tranny so much as stock ones will. either way, the truck shouldn't get more than 10-13 mpg IMO.
Nice looking ride..
Unless you have had the speedometer calibrated the mileage is off and you are getting better than you think. When I went to 35's, my actual mileage and speedo was roughly 10% off. At 70 I was really doing closer to 77. Took a trip and my buddy's truck with stock tires was going close to 10% farther according to his speedo when we would fill up.
So when you write down the mileage, add 10%,(270+27), and it will be closer to your actual MPG.

as others have said
with the 6 inch lift and large tires
you are starting out far behind
because the aerodynamics and tire rolling resistance
are greater than a stock truck
If you must stay with large diameter tires
consider buying the 19.5 commercial tires and rims
when your present tires are worn out
