Default CKP Mod, Rear Flood Lts, Fnt Tow Hooks, PICS

Well I worked on my truck for a while today and the last few days here and there.

Today I did the CKP Mod. I legthened the holes until there was about an 1/8" of the bracket left of both sides. After fiddling around I got it hooked up and after some more playing with my truck I took it for a spin. There was totally a noticable power gain, but nothing to crazy obviously! But it was defenitially worth it to get noticable power for $0 and just some time in the garage. I give it a thumbs up and recomend people to do it. It was kind of a pain in the but though, I did mine from laying on the group under the passenger side of the truck. I also have a body lift which made it easier, I imagine it would be a huge pain w/out a body lift. Its also kinda a pain to get it unhooked off the piggy back because the wire is short and weaves under the distributer.

A few days ago I also hooked up to Flood Lights on my rear bumper. For $15 each at Tractor Supply Co. I can't believe how much they light up. They're awesome and are almost like a set of headlights on your rear. If you wheel or use your truck at night alot I also recomend some aux. lights like these. Mine are big because I plan to use them, but smaller ones would work good just for reverse lights.

Next I bought 2 Reese Tow Hooks for $10 each since these things have no front recov points for whatever reason. Came with 2 Grade 5 Bolts, nice and big ones. I used an existing hole in my frame that the brushguard bracket also goes through. Then I had to drill a hole in the brushguard bracket itself for the other bolt. The bracket is 1/4" steel, so its nice and strong, and its also bolted to the frame with 3 big Grade 8 bolts so I really doubt I'm gonna have a stregnthness problem in this location. You can hardly see them from the front with the Brushguard and air dam in the way but I like how it looks.

Forgot I also did an oil change and put some Quaker Q Power 4x4 & SUV into it along with 1/2 a quart of Marvel Mystery Oil. The other 1/2 the Marvel went into the gas tank. We'll see how that turns out. Already seems like it runs quiter (engine niose).

I've never got around to raising my rear bumper so the lights fit good, and yes the tail gate does clear them when its down

Heres where I've been mounting my switches, the other one is for my KC Daylighers. All the wiring goes through the headliner and down the post so you can't see any of the wires.

This is Satalite radio and CB locations, both are bolted solid to the dash so they don't wobble or shake at all. Satalite radio cables also go through the cup holder its mounted on and inside the dash so no wires are hanging out.

Can hardly see them from the front.

Heres how she sits now. I love her

nice setup
here's my backup lights and where i mounted my cb...with the newer interior, there's no really good place to put it, so i just added some extended brackets so the cupholder doesnt hit it.

Thanks! I was thinking about wiring them up to my reverse lights but I decided I'm gonna want to use them when I'm not in reverse. I'll probably wiring them up both ways in a few days

Nice looking setup. I guess there are no legal issues with clear lights on the rear of the truck as long at you aren't using them running down the highway? That's not too bad of an idea, it would be nice to have extra light when backing up at night, especially when I have my truck cap on.

Sounds like you ran into the same issues I did with the CKP mod. I don't have a lift on my truck, but I ran the front up on car ramps, which helped to get around underneath. I probably should have slotted the holes on mine a little more. I only moved it about 1/8 inch. Of course now that I did it once, I know the routine and it'll be easier to do the second time. That's the problem with so many of the projects, you get better at it after the first go around, but never have to do the job again.

Yeah if I get bored I might take it out and shave off just a hair more, but the more I drive it the more I really can tell theres a diffrence. I still can't light the tires up and I wasn't expecting to be able to, but they sure seem like they want to break free a bit more now.

I don't think here in MI there is a law about clear lights in the back. Theres tons of oil/gas company trucks that have the Back Racks with lights on them and such.

I too installed back up lights on my Ram. I installed them on either side of my tow hitch, however I wired them directly to the same wire as my stock back up lights so that they go on every time I put the truck into reverse. I don't hafta flick a switch at all.

As far as my CB goes, I have one about the same size as the one you have pictured, however I mounted it right to the bottom of the dash to the left of the shifter. It fits perfect !! I attached the mic clip to the flip down armrest so that it hangs on the front of it. If I get a chance I'll take some pics of the set up later.
