Default CD player suggestions

I have a 2001 Ram 1500 that I recently purchased that just has a factory radio and cassette player. I would like a CD player for the truck, but dont really want an aftermarket light show. Im hoping that maybe I can get a Dodge factory CD player to work. It would be nice to find a newer Dodge that was wrecked and grab the CD player, but I really dont know if it would fit. Any suggestions(yr/model) on compatibility would be helpful. Thanks.

Im sure any factory dodge CD player would work. As long as it is from about the same year, make, mode. They are all made to fit.l

Look to see if it's an infinity system or not in your truck. If it isn't, which i believe they always have a cd player with them, than i'm not sure if the infinity cd player from another truck will work. I've never tried it, changing out the two, but if your buying a radio, it would suck to get in and it doesnt work. I might still have my old Infinity cd/cassette player out of my truck though. I'd have to look when i get back from vacation.

Not all after market head units are a "light show" Mine is very simple and was cheap. Its also that greenish LCD color so it matches the dash when its lit up at night. Its a Sony

Eclipse makes a decent deck without all the freaking graphics also. They are now carrying them at Circuit City. I'm sure they make one with light shows too.

factory CDplayers, infinity or not, as long as you have the wiring harness, you should have no problem wiring up to yours, no matter the year. just be sure to keep an eye on each of the wiring colors., front/rear/left/right. etc.. the newer decks may have extra wires that your truck may not have, sometimes they aren't required anyways..

the main four (not that I can remember the all colors)

orange/orangeblack (RF/RR)
white power
black ground
and its either yellow/yellowblack or grey/greyblack (LF/LR) cant remember though.

The main thing is I just want a stock CD player. Looks nicer in my opinion. Ive noticed the new Dodge Ram 1500s have a singe "din" radio. With that said, just any year wouldnt work because mine is a double din stock unit. I can make any Cd player wire up, but FITMENT was what I was worried about. I noticed jisthangin01 wrote something about an infinity system. Did some 2nd gen Rams come stock with a CD player???? (And if so were they a double din complete unit or a single din factory cd player with a storage bin underneath?) Any info helpful. thanks.
