Guy at Autozone said Im insane to run a 180 thermo..WTF??
them bastards dont know ****, i never listen to em, they are usually wrong cause they dunno what they are talking about, and they never have more than 1 of something that normally gets replaced as a pair.. :O go figure..
Definitely go with the 180 t-stat. Along with some other mods, it made a huge difference in my truck's performance. There are a few guys at Autozone that know their stuff, but not many. Kind of like Home Depot and Lowes, the bigger you get - the less the employees know about their products.
yea those guys at autozone or pep boys are idiots. the only down side to a 180 is your heat inst going to get very hot. I still cant get over when i went to pepboys to get my new clutch and the guy was asking me all the information and he asked me if it was an auto or manual. ive ever been back to that store since then. what moron doesnt know that theres no clutch in an auto. Some say that a 180 will cause buildup to occur that would normally be burned off at 195. HankL posted a big thing about this one time. It was interesting for sure, but not compelling enough for me to stay with a 195.
Whenever I go into a parts store, I just tell them that I want such-and-such part or part number, and how many, without telling them what it's for. If they ask what it's for, I just tell them it's a custom application. They think they have to look up everything on their computer first before they can give it to you. It's none of their business what I want the part for. If I thought their opinion mattered, or that they knew more then I do about Rams, then I would go in and ask what part I should use on my Ram, but I am sure I know far more about Rams then any of them do.
It's like going to Home Depot and buying some nails, but having to tell them what kind of house it's for first. [&:]
