Guy at Autozone said Im insane to run a 180 thermo..WTF??
I mean come on,its bad enough I went there in the first place to buy some stuff for my water pump adventure. This guy says Ill get you the 195 that is what you need.Im like NO I want the 180.He says you will ruin your truck.[:-]So I get into this long *** debate with him about why I want to run a 180.What if any are the negatives of running a 180 Tstat.I do tow my camper and somtimes small cars.Anything this jackass might be right about?
I don't know of any negatives of running a 180 deg thermostat, nor have I heard of anyone having a problem with a 180, other than getting a bad brand. Now the 160 will screw things up, but you weren't asking for the 160. Just b/c he works at autozone doesn't mean he knows what he was talking about. I went to orielly's to get the autolite 3923 spark plugs and got pretty much the same reaction, that i shouldn't run autolites in a dodge. So, I trust the people here more than the people at the parts store.
It's none of his business which thermostat you want to install, period.
I wouldn't have explained anything, just turned around and walked
out.
I run a 180 Stant SuperStat® with good results.

dude never listen to those morons at the big stores like auto zone and pep boys etc., ive found that they know nothing about cars at all.its easy for them to work there since they got computer systems running the parts catolog. i used to work for napa and a performance place called perfprmance centers of america. we never really used the computer we just looked it up in the book. and most of the time if it was common tune up parts we knew the part numbers by heart. none of those stupid questions about your vehicle that dont pertain to the part. i cant tell you how many times i tried to buy shocks only to be asked what trans i had in mytruck.....lol. they are computer geeks that know nothing about cars. so buy the part you want and tell them to go f*$% themselves.
