Default Newb to the Ram

Hey everyone, This is my first post and i just had a few questions about a Ram that i am looking at buying.

I currently own a 2001 Cougar that i have linked in my sig, that will not cut it in michigan winters. so i need a truck.

The truck im talking to the owner on is a 1999 Dodge Ram 2500 3/4 ton
360-5.9L

The truck has 218,000 Miles on it. The tranny was just re-built from head to toe and i personaly know the shop owner that did it. He also put a 5-year warrenty on his work.
My question is, it 218k a lot on the Ram? he said he has had no problems with the motor at all. but at 218k i think its time for sumthing to start breaking. Or at least just petty **** breaking, like window motors and electrical stuff.

the truck kbb's at 8500. He wanted 9000.. I planned on offering him 8000, good deal or no?

Thanks for the help guys, i hope to get some good intell off you guys, since im new to the truck scene.

-Kurt

8000 for a ram with 218 K?There are wayyyyy better deals out there then that.Seems really steep.Hell you can get one with a CTD with less miles for around that. The engines are pretty damn strong if maintained. But overall wear on the truck has got to be excessive.Ball joint,Driveshafts,Rears etc.I would steer clear of that.I bought my 96 with 112K in real good shape for $3200.Keep looking is my suggestion

yep, too high mileage, the engine might be fine, but the rest of the truck will start going. i would imagine it leaks some sort of fluid, but maybe not by now.
