Anybody have a factory air hat?
We'll I managed to screw up and crack my air hat and I don't have the cash for a CAI atm... Of course the crack is after the filter. I rigged it up for now, but I don't wanna run with RTV filling the hole for ever. Anybody have their old one laying around?
If you can't find a stock one, try this out: http://www.partsamerica.com/ProductD...artnumber=1480 I found it in stock at the local Advanced Auto Store. There are some other similiar brands, but they have a dropped base and you may run into interference with the throttle linkage. Check out my gallery for a picture of it installed on my truck.
For $25 it's a cheap replacement. I installed this unit on mine about 2 weeks ago and it definately helped with performance. I took the TB off the truck in order to get the S-bolt bent correctly and to get the unit centered on the truck. Sorry, I won't sell you my stock unit. I want it around as a backup, especially if we ever have to go with emissions testing in our area. I'm not sure if the unit would pass a visual emissions inspection.
Depending on how big the hole is in your existing airhat, I wouldn't worry too much about it. The previous owner had done the same thing on my truck and the sealant stayed in place. You could take a thin piece of plastic and place it over the outside of the hole, then "weld" it in place with good quality caulk or J.B. Weld. That would be better than just filling the hole with sealant.
Edit: Realized you wrote crack and not put a hole in the airhat. J.B.Weld might still be a good choice for patching the crack, just smear it on thick.

Yes I have one from my 2001 Ram 4X4 Icould let you have for a case of beer and postage. I replaced it with a K&N Gen II so it is just sitting on my shelf.
Let me know if you are intertested and I can send you a photo to check out later today.
