Default Wheel/Tire/Suspension questions

Hi all-
Dodge Forum Newbie here so be gentle...
I just inherited a one owner (60K miles) 1998 1500 regular cab short bed 2WD V6 Ram. It will belong to myyoungest son when he turns 16. We have been talking about giving it an aggressive road-racing type appearance, with a lowered stance and very fat tires/wheels. My first question is what size rims and low profile tires will fit within the wheelwells? Secondly, what is involved with lowering the stance on these things? is it an axle flip rear and cut springs front?
Thanks.

hey welcome to DF, sounds like a cool project, im not to fimilar with the font end of a 2wd ram. the rear to lower it. you could remove the block if theres one in the rear ( there should be). the front i would say get new coils, dont cut them because thats not always the safest thing in the world and this is your son where talking about here. im sure there are lowing kits out there. if you want to go air bags, a company called air ride technology is really good and they have a great system that perform like a race suspension. other then that thats all i know.

if you need any help with anything on the forum, shoot me a pm and ill help you out. welcome to the family

*edit* also as for the tire size, you can fit massive tires in these wheel wells so thats not really a problem.

for the front i know they make drop spindles witch is the best way to go.. saffest that is.. and still keep the ride quality of a 2WD.. also a rear flip kit may also be the best.. search on ebay for a ram drop kit.. see what comes up..

next time your at the store.. pick up a street trucks or truckin magazine and in the back they have 100's of ads of companies that deal with lifts and drops on trucks.. VERY easy to find a vendor for the gear youll need

welcome and stick around!

you could go with a full air ride suspension for what you would have in a fixed lowered suspension, plus the ride is stiff! air is fully adjustable and has great ride comfort, and has come a really long way. durable enough for daily rides.

but please dont just hack your coils and axle flip, the ride will be horrible!
