Default homemade cowl scoop

Has anyone thought about using the factory airbox, getting some tubing (dryer hose?) and some other plastic pieces to make a functional cowl induction system? I'm curious because I've been tossing around the idea of taking a few factory airboxes, some tubing, some rivets and a few other things to make one.

Anything is possible. I'm sure it could be done, though it probably wouldn't be worth the effort to do that nor would it probably look as good as an actual cowl induction hood.

You'd be better off fabricating a cone filter intake under the hood (similar to the K&N FIPK) out of ABS piping. Just my 2 cents.
