Instrument Cluster failing

Have a 99 ram 1500 pickup and the instrument cluster is failing. Oil pressure and fuel quantity guages constantly drop to zero and the "Check Engine" light and chime comes on. Very annoying.
Price quotes at various dealers run from $700-900 for a new instrument cluster.
Anybody have any suggestions on where to look for another part or rebuilding options? Have the truck in at a local non-dealer repair shop and they say they have a guy who can rebuild it for around $450 total. Apparently this is a fairly common thing with this model truck as there's a TSB on it.
Thanks for any help!
