starting problems
I am going to say sorry in advance i am not to good w/ mechanicanical... this is the problem on high moister mornings my truck WILL NOT start...and when i finally do get it started it misfires and ever time it misfires the check engine light come on... then i can wait 10 minutes and it runs lk a top...also it flashes the check engien light when u turn the key to turnover position and makes a ticking noise(somethinig with the vacum lines my uncle said) i think wait is making it make the noise is a solinoid?? is that a posible thing that could make it not start.. my uncle which is a mechanic said it could be a crank sensor... i did use the key trickj and now codes showed up.. thanks in advance..
yah thats what i though to but there is the ticking noise from a vacumm solinoid i think thats what it is at least a bunch of lines are coming into it and there is wires going ot it to so that why i think it isnt that!! but i am not very mechanically inclined
Ok, next time it's really damp out, and the truck won't start ... spray WD-40 all over the suspected part and then crank it again (WD-40 displaces moisture). If it fires RIGHT up ... you've found your problem. If not ... look elsewhere.
okay thanks... i tried it and it didnt work so i dunno were to go from now...

Maybe if you have a digital camera or a good cell phone camera you could take a pic of the vacuum solenoid you are talking about. Just for the fun of it I would look over your distributor cap one more time, sometimes you miss something and TMS is exactly right about the moisture problem.
Also just thought of something else, when were the plugs replaced last. They would have nothing to do with a hard start condition in a damp setting only but they sure won't make starting any easier if they are worn out.

History has shown that hard starting in high humidity situations is limitited to the ignition system. We used to just pull the distributor cap and spray it down inside (WD-40 again) when the weather got damp (and the wires, too, if that didn't work) to fix a hard start problem. Have you tried the coil yet?
the wires were replaced about when the problem started...i replace the coil but my only issue is even if it was the distrubutor or rotor why would the vaccum sollinoids( or what ever they are called) be making a ticking noise.... there is a wire from the solionoid going from there to the back of the trottle body!!!.. when i unplug one of them the ticking stops at the place but the other 2 points still make the noise...like i said i think its a vacum solinoid buyt really dont know what they are but there is three locations the back left of the engine(sorta by the distrubor) on on the back right and has 2 lines in or out and a bummy thing i dunno what for and the one on the back of the trottle body..i am sorry for my explaination i am trying to decribe it as best as i can...
