Truck would run
I went out this morning to start my truck, and it didnt want to idle. I could rev it up, over and over, but when i let off the gas it died. I was able to keep it running long enough to get it out in the road, then dogged the hell outta it around the block, got it home, it fires us and idles fine now. I am thinking possible Idle air control valve, am i close? If so how involved is it to clean it?
the Iac valve isnt that hard to clean. theres to torx screws on the back of the TB and it will pull right out. then just shoot some TB cleaner on it and i would clean the TB while your in there.
Be careful and dont twist on the IAC motor either. It's tempting but I have seen lots of people make that expensive mistake. If you had time to let the throttle body soak, I would recommend pulling it off, removing all the sensors and letting the throttle body soak in one of those carburetor cleaner buckets, thats what I did with mine and I am happy with the results.
