Default TRANSMISSION - SHIFT PROBLEM

My V8 1996 Dodge Ram Sport starting late shifting into OD a few months ago.
Tranny oil looks good and red, so I am sure the plates are good etc.

Problem got worse and worse (sometiems would not drive at all even at idle,
sometimes 1st and 2nd would shift, then that was it.

After some research, I was told to check govn pressure using a gauge. I found
it real erratic and nowhere near the 1mph per psi . 50mph as I was told.

I changed out the Governor Solonoid (Mopar, brand new $118). It did not help.
I am told it might be the Governor transducer, which is the problem.

Would the transducer cause me to have no drive sometimes (even at idle) and
also erratic shifting?

If it is electrical (which seems likely as I get 55 psi at idle with the wiring connector disconnected)
Is there a way I can diagnose the transducer etc... ? Is there a set pattern or list of checks I can
make to solve this? IS THERE ANYYYYYYYYYYYY easy to follow instruction out there, so I can save
$$,,,,,,,,,,I support my son and money is always tight.

I have not had the truck ((used)) more than 5 months and only drove it for 2 months ~~~ !!!!

I see a lot of info people guessing about what to change, I understand the system of the
electrical governer, but I see no fault finding information anywhere, for your average honme
mechanic like me !

Thanks all the way......... !

Rich :-)

This is gonna sound stupid, but check your battery terminals. If they're even the slightes bit corroded you'll have tranny problems. I wouldn't have believed it myself, but just last month my tranny was slipping into and out of overdrive. The guy at the tranny shop told me to clean my battery terminals and when I did the problem dissapeared.

Good luck !!
