Truck vibrates at bout 40mph
I have a 2000 1500 4x4 quad cab short bed and when i am cruising at about a constant 40mph the truck seems to vibrate a little. It goes away as I accellerate or slow down. It doesnt vibrate on the highway or speeds above 50mph. It only does it between 38-43mph. Its only a slight vibration but its noticeable. Anyone else have this same problem or have an idea where to start looking? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks
I hope its as simple as tires cuz I just bought the SRT-10 22" wheels so when I get those in about a week I will see. Would the transmission make a vibration like that? I have heard that these rams are proned for tranny problems. I say BS to the rumors but I figured I would ask anyway. Thanks
Dodges are prone to transmission problems but like I said before, 99 percent of the time if you can drive out of your vibration by going faster or slower it is a tire balance problem. Wheels weights can fall off, it happens. Nice choice on the wheels by the way, just too much money for me to lay down.
I bought a set of brand new SRT-10 Replicas for $1,050. If you look around most people want more than that for used OEM 20" wheels. I figured if I was gonna spend that kinda money I mite as well get the better looking ones. I think you are correct about the tires needing balanced though. Thanks for the replies and help.
had the same problem with my winter tires. you've got a missing weight on one of the rear wheels. you won't notice it on the front because of the coils, but on the rear you do notice it because of the leafs transfering the vibrations. (another reason i don't like IFS/IRS, independent front/rear suspension, trucks... harder to feel vibrations)

I have the exact same problem with my 99 QC 4x4. I just checked and I still have all of my weights. I just recently had tires put on so the balance should be fine. I also just had my shocks replaced because I thought this would fix the problem but the vibration is still there at 40 mph. Any Ideas?
Take the truck back where you got the tires and have them re-balance them. They may or may not do it for free but it will be cheaper than anything else that could be causing that problem.
