Default Hypertech compatibility Question

Found a Hypertech programer #5005 which says works on the 00 5.9L on the site it says the 01 5.9 uses model # 5006.
They should just be interchangable right? Or am I wrong? I was going to email them but its after 5 according to their clocks and they are closed for the day.

To my knowledge, they are not interchangable by design from Hypertech. I have never verified this to say for 100% certainty though, so if your brave you could test the theory for the rest of us.

I believe it'll only cover the 5.9 and 5.2 for '00. I bought the superchips programmer just because it covers more years and engines. I bought the wrong one at first (#3714 instead of #3715 should stay away from ebay at 3:00 AM) all it did when I hooked it up was to say that my engine wasn't supported. If it's anything like the Superchips it shouldn't hurt anything as it won't allow you to program anything.

I know on my dads new Chevy that a programmer for an 04 wouldnt work on an 05. I sorry I said the C-word but thats the experience I had. I'm pretty sure that Hypertech does that for just this reason.
