Default Timing chain loose

I have a flowmaster 10 series and when i rev it, it revs up smoothly but when i take my foot off the gas and the rpm's go down it, i wouldn't say backfire, but studders. Is this normal, i've heard many other cars do this, but what are the signs of a loose timing chain?

Thanks

Default RE: Timing chain loose

The chains do have a tendancy to get loose on these. A replace is pretty straight foward, did mine in a few hours. Impact and the crank pully puller helped alot though.
