Default Some Axle Questions

Hey guys, I've reluctantly decided to take my truck to a friends shop to get the front inner axle seals (both) fixed. I know, I should do it myself, but honestly I'm a little intimidated. Anyone on here had this fixed at a shop that could give me an idea of around how much this is gonna cost, ballpark?

And also, I recently swapped my rear axle fluid to Mobil 1 75w 90 synthetic and a lot of people told me that when using a quality full-synthetic fluid, you don't really need the friction modifier. Is this true?

that is not true.. regardless of what the bottle says... do yourself the favor and put in the MOPAR dealer sold 8 oz bottle of the friction modifier.. now some additives sold in car stores and fluids say its lsd compliant... but that sure as hell doesnt give me a warm and fuzzy inside....

I was Going to do my seals myself but I actually had The Dodge Garage do them. Taking them out is not a problem if you have an impact wrench capable of 175 ft/lbs for the spindle nuts. The problem is the instilation they need to be pulled in from the inside out. The Driver side is not bad because the tube is only about a foot and a half long. The passenger side you need to take the 4 wheele hub motor of and the tube is 3 foot long. Dodge has a special seal puller just for that side.

I had mine done inFebruary they broke 3 of the 4 bolts that held the hub motor on so they had to drill and tap new ones. The "book" calls fo 8hr of labor they did mine in 4. I also had them do the wheele joints while they had it appart and they had to replace the drivers wheel yolk. It cost me $650.00 total. Parts where $350.000 the yolk was the expencive part.
