Default " stealth " De-chroming

A few of us were talking on the de-badgind thread, and I mentioned I had de-badged and rebadged with modified 3rd gens and was in the process of wiping out all the chrome and shiny stuff for the same paint color I painted the emblems. I used a Duplicolor wheel paint for durability. Well at this point I have the emblems done and attached to the truck and last night I did my grill. I have pictures for those who wanted them. The grill came out so nice, but I didn't get a great picture of it. Eventually all chrome and black abs plastic on this truck, basically anything not painted black will be colored with this accent color. I am even treating some interior stuff to match. I will continue uploading pics as I paint!!!

Keep the pics coming. I think it'll look pretty sweet and unique when your done. I know I'll probably de-badge and want to do something with the chrome just haven't decided on what yet.

I did the chrome accents over the wheel wells today, I will get more pics up in the morning. Out of paint, and tape, more next weekend I am sure. The rest of the chrome I have to pull off the truck and hang to paint it effectively.

300 grit sandpaper to rough it up bit, hot soapy watre, followed by some isopropyl alcohol. Then the paint itself is made to bond to anything as well. It is also designed to resist abrasives, and cleansers and the such. I will get more pics up tomorrow and some bigger ones in the gallery.

I just de-badged today and now I have to get the energy to do something with the chrome. I'll probably stick with black as I've done with the rest of the truck. I'll definitely be checking for the more detailed photos tomorrow as you post them.

Some 3rd gen emblems would look miiiighty good with those wheels!!! For something so small, I think it made a huge difference in how my truck looks.
