Hi, I just ordered the kit from Hughes to fix the plenum pan/gasket. Is there anything i should be expecting? I swapped out the timing set so Im pretty sure I am up to this job. Just wondering If anyone had any special tips. Any special tools i need? Thanks

 

hey hey... how's the truck running these days? if you havent seen it yet, there is a DIY writup in the DIY forum. check it out, it should help alot. Also make sure you use a felpro gasket. they are much better than the stock dodge replacement one.

are you going to mod your intake?

 

I just did my plenum using the DIY thread and the Haynes manual. Fairly straight forward. I left my fan in place as I didn't have a strap wrench, but it didn't pose any problems. It means alot of bending over and kneeling on the bumper, plus I'm not sure I would have got my fat *** between the rad and motor anyway. lol The only specialty tool was the lbs/in torque wrench which I had to buy as I only had a larger lbs/ft. If you have one for inches then there's nothing too special you need.

I forgot about the fuel line removal tool for romoving the fuel line from the fuel rail

 

I didn't need to remove the fuel line, it depends on the specific engine. Also if you don't have a puller of some sort you could screw the crank pully up, so make sure to get a puller But it is pretty straight foward! GL

 

the tool is under $10 bux and will make your life easier... remove the fuel line.

yeah exactly... Kragens, autozone or napa should have it. it'll be a kit of up to 4 sizes.

 

Hey steve where can i get the fel pro gasket? I just bought the two items from Hughes. Im not quite sure what that includes. Thanks

 

you'll need to call around, I think Autozone had it. i'd wait until the kit comes in and see which gasket it has. I recall one of them having the good gasket.
