I concur with ^^^^^, and i've tried homeade, Airaid, and K&N FIPK. FIPK is best so far.

I used to hate my FIPK... came loose all the time while off roading, and then...da## air horn cracked in the middle of a dusty trail run...had to jury rig it with silicone. K&N replaced it under warranty...but the motor ate some crap. Also, if you're wading through deep mud or water, you may get flooded because of where the filter is. I won't recommend it for off road trucks. The new tube hasn't given me trouble YET. I also agree you need a larger element if you run one. I run a Spectre, it really wails when you nail it.

If I could redo it, I'd get an Airmax or a B&D system. They use the factory fender hole, which is up away from water, and flows plenty of air.

yeah my tube cracked also, sucked a piece the size of a quarter down into the #2 cylinder and flattend the plug ground. never did find it... my replacement never cracked. I think they had a bad run of them or something. If you over torque the center bolt, it can also help it crack sooner if you have an older tube.

I don't know if anyone has tried them for the 2nd gen rams but I hear AEM's brute force is fairly good and is on sale at jc whitney for 202

Ive track tested a couple setups and Ramairbox was the clear winner by far. Double the et reductions of a K&N genII. Its a bit tricky to install but the results are well worth it.
I would avoid the AEM Brute Force and the Volants. The genII does have an issue with cracking. 3 different tube part #s cracked.
