Default Cad unit bolt size

How about we start a master list of the most common and some uncommon nut and bolt sized used on our 2gen's and after we build up a nice beefy list, we can sticky it. You can also print this list off, keep it in the shop, garage, or your Haynes and use it as a quick reference. Something I wish haynes had in their manuals to begin with. They way this will work, as for I am starting this thread, Ill moderate it and adjust it as necessary. The actuall list will build off this post, and everyone post below me, and then I'll get my copy and paste skills out and build up the master. Also, remember, if you know of any year specific sizes, please post the years as well, as well as size, 1500, 2500, 3500 too. We don't have to stick to JUST bolts and nuts, as we can also post others like brake like sizes/threads, hose sizes etc etc etc. If there ends up being differences, as in, same size truck and year has two different sizes, or if its a package specific size, post or note respectivly. Well I hope this takes off and works out, and starts a trend in some of the other sections too! This is probablly going to start off by memory, but if anyone feels like they would want to run out to their trucks and start checking, that would be great too.

Also if someone comes across an error please post it, but in a nice and respectable manor.
Also, if someone knows (example) a 1500 balljoint nut is the same as a 2500 or 3500 please speak up, so we can edit or check it if necessary, this follows for everything else.

PLEASE check the list before posting, if something was already added to the list or posted, please dont repost. But if its in need of correction, addition or modification. Let me know!

Default Ball joints press in vs bolt in

Keep in mind that the ball joints and alot of front end stuff changed from 99 to the 2000 model year. Ball joints on 2000 n 2001 r the only years I know of that were bolt in instead of press in (once u cut the factory rivets out anyway). Idk if it makes a difference in the castle nut size or not tho. But calipers also changed in that yr. Went from a single to dual piston. I'll have to c wut size all my bolts/nuts r when theres daylight....so I guess just put a note next to the ball joint castle nut sizes whether its 00-01, or earlier press in model

On my '98 1500, 5.2L, the actual head size is a 16mm, on both the starter, and oil pan drain plug! You don't need a deep socket either, but a standard 16mm, with a long (6") extension works perfectly on the starter! But this is useless information for me! I need actual bolt size, length, and threads! If I go by what's been posted so far, if I could even get a bolt started, I'd be tearing up the threads on my transmission! I'm glad you're posting a bolt list, but you might want to verify the actual bolt sizes, before you post them!
Also keep in mind, if u didnt get ur truck brand new urself, it's quite common for quick lube idiots to strip out simple things like drain plugs (they think they need to use an impact for some reason) n then have to order "oversize" plugs from oreillys, etc. Unless YOU and only you have 100% done all the work ever done on ur truck, anything can b possible....just sayin...
